Charity films built on good storytelling and told with purpose

Charity and public sector work demands something that most video production briefs don't: the ability to handle sometimes difficult subject matter with care, and without losing sight of the need to communicate clearly and move people to action.

We are a London-based video production company with over a decade of experience working across charity, third sector, and public sector video production. We work with all types of charities — from large national organisations running high-profile fundraising campaigns to smaller local charities producing their first professional film. Whatever your size or cause, the approach is the same: understand what the video content needs to achieve, then build everything around that.

Effective charity video production requires both technical craft and editorial judgement. A strong final video makes complex issues tangible for a general audience, builds trust in your organisation, and creates the kind of connection that motivates people to donate, volunteer, or change their behaviour.

Affected Others
Charity campaign film for GambleAware

Our second awareness film produced for GambleAware, focused on the real stories of ‘affected others’ – people who have been affected by somebody else’s gambling. The end result was an intimate documentary-style film designed to encourage recognition among affected individuals, prompting them to seek support.

Our charity video production services

As a full-service charity video production company, we manage the entire film production process: concept development, scripting, filming, post production, and final delivery. You'll work directly with Rob from start to finish.

Campaign videos and fundraising

A charity video made to raise awareness or drive donations needs to build trust quickly, communicate urgency, and give people a clear reason to act. We produce story-led campaign videos that are honest about the issue and straightforward about the ask.

Case studies and documentary films

Putting a real person's story at the centre of a film – handled with care, edited with respect – is more persuasive than a wall of statistics. We have extensive experience producing documentary-style case studies for charities and public sector organisations covering a wide range of complex social issues. We've also completed training in participatory approaches to media production and believe in making films with people, not just about them.

Recruit volunteers and staff

Video is one of the most effective ways to recruit volunteers and attract people who share your values. A well-made recruitment film communicates your organisation's culture and purpose in a way that a job listing can't.

Social media content

We produce social media video content alongside every production as standard, so you have assets ready for the platforms where your audience spends time. Delivered in the formats you need for Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, or YouTube.

Adult Education
Impact case study for Mayor of London

Mayor of London and the GLA commissioned this series of micro-documentaries to break down some of the barriers that stop adults from going back into education, and ultimately encourage more people to get involved and grow their skills with numbers.

Navigating sensitive topics with dignity and respect

Before founding Rob Pinney Studio, Rob spent almost a decade as a photojournalist and documentary photographer covering often difficult topics for major newswires and publications. That background means we're well practiced in working with people who may be vulnerable in different ways, and at making sound editorial judgements about how to tell those stories both responsibly and with dignity. We want the people who appear in our films to feel proud of how they come across, and so far that’s exactly what we’ve achieved.

Our third sector video production work includes multiple campaign films for GambleAware, all of which were built around in-depth interviews with people who have lived experience of gambling harms. These aren't simple briefs. They involve sensitive interview conditions and significant responsibility to arrive at messaging that balances impact with honesty and care.

We also understand the governance structures, approval processes, and stakeholder considerations that come with public sector and charity work. We build that into our planning from the start.
